Prostatic Artery Embolization (PAE)

PAE is an advanced treatment that helps men with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate, find lasting relief from urinary symptoms.

Performed by an interventional radiologist using imaging guidance, a thin catheter is inserted through a small incision in the groin or wrist and guided to the arteries supplying the prostate. Microscopic particles are then released to reduce blood flow, causing the gland to shrink and easing pressure on the bladder and urethra.

PAE avoids the need for major surgery or general anesthesia, and most patients return to normal activities within days. Many experience improved bladder control, reduced urgency, and fewer nighttime trips to the bathroom within weeks.

Benefits Of PAE For BPH

PAE eases BPH symptoms like frequent urination and weak flow. It is minimally invasive, done as an outpatient procedure, and allows most men to return to normal activities quickly. With fewer risks than surgery, PAE offers a safe, effective path to lasting relief.

Symptom Relief

PAE shrinks the prostate, easing frequent, urgent, or weak urination.

Minimally Invasive

PAE is an outpatient procedure with no major surgery or incisions.

Quick Recovery

Most patients recover quickly and return to daily activities soon.

Fewer Side Effects

Lower risk than surgery, including incontinence or sexual dysfunction.

PAE – Lasting Relief, Minimal Downtime

PAE is a safe, effective, and outpatient-based procedure that does not require general anesthesia or hospitalisation. Most patients experience only mild discomfort and are able to return to normal activities within a few days. With fewer risks and a quicker recovery time than traditional surgery, PAE offers lasting relief without compromising quality of life.

Relief and
Expert Advice

For many men, PAE offers lasting relief from the uncomfortable symptoms of BPH, including frequent urination, urgency, and weak urine flow. As a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery, it reduces risks, shortens recovery time, and helps men regain comfort, confidence, and a better quality of life.
